kate moss leaves storm, while cara claims she never quit the agency
28 years ago, Sarah Doukas discovered a 14-year-old Kate Moss while wandering around JFK airport, and signed her on the spot. Since then, Moss has gone on to become one the of world's most successful supermodels. In fact, she's probably the most successful supermodel on the planet. But after nearly three decades of being signed to Storm Management, it has been announced that Kate will be leaving her mother agency, while her 18-year-old half-sister Lottie Moss remains. "After a successful 28 year relationship, Kate is moving her business in house," a spokesperson for Storm said in a statement, "we will continue to maintain an active involvement in our on-going deals for her".
Kate's move comes after Cara Delevingne (who starred alongside Moss in Burberry's Autumn/Winter 14 campaign) left the agency in July 2015 to focus on her acting career. At the time, the discourse surrounding her departure was very much along the lines of "Cara quits modelling forever." The narrative was perpetuated by her occasional appearance in campaigns—usually billed as her big 'return'. She's been especially active over the past few week, fronting campaigns for Chanel eyewear and Saint Laurent. Today, she took to Twitter claiming she never really retired: "I never quit." So watch this space.
