In a way, the VMAs might be the most important awards show on television. The always fun and often controversial event has a long history of monumental pop culture moments: the Madonna-Britney Kiss of 2003, the Taylor Swift interruption of 2009, and the Miley Cyrus twerk controversy of 2013, just to name a few. And with Miley hosting, and now the release of the outrageous 2015 performer roster, this year's show might be the wildest one yet.

The stacked lineup was released yesterday on MTV's twitter. The show will feature VMA veterans like Pharrell and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis along with newbie Tori Kelly. Demi Lovato and The Weeknd will deliver odes to summer 2K15 by performing their hits Cool For the Summer and Can't Feel My Face. And this year's show is even hosting a sure-to-be amazing collaboration between A$AP Rocky and musical duo Twenty-One Pilots. But MTV is still teasing us with mysterious silhouettes of two more performers, who will be announced today and tomorrow.

Sunday's ceremony will also see Kanye West receive a lifetime achievement award of sorts. The hip-hop superstar and VMA bad-boy is receiving the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award. Following in the footsteps of Beyoncé and her 14-minute-long showcase, Kanye is sure to execute a mesmerizing performance. And, if the VMAs are giving Kanye 10+ minutes of uncensored air time to himself, we know that something jaw-dropping is going to happen.
