crystal mec is proof that willow smith's friends are cooler than yours

Crystal Mec, 18, likes to hang out with her friends, discuss the universe and make music. And when your friends are Willow and Jaden Smith, the result of your playdates are seen and heard by an entire generation. As she stars in Willow's psychedelic...

How old do you feel?
Sometimes I feel like a 40-year-old woman, hoarding around 13 crystals in a baseball cap. Sometimes I feel like a 7-year-old frolicking around with my friends climbing trees. For the most part, I fill the shoes of an intelligent, philosophical 16-year-old.

What fictional crew are you and your friends most like?
Code Name: Kids Next Door. I think we embody traits of the natives in Avatar, so we would most likely resemble some tribe of 'Blue People.'

What do you want to be?
I want to be a light. I want to show people the beauty of the world through anything and everything that we can see beauty in. People find it hard to look at a tree and admire it. I want to be the light that charges their perspective and perception of simple things.

What's the hardest part of growing up?
Having to survive in a society like ours. It's hard having to put up a façade - like you know what you're doing - when nobody your age does.

What's the bravest thing you've done?
My opinion is my opinion and protecting that is the bravest thing that all of us face on a daily basis. Protecting that, while respecting others and their opinions.

What are you most proud of?
My friends. I'm really proud of what we're doing collectively. I'm proud that we're all on our individual paths towards awakening together. The music that we sing, the words that we speak, the energy that we're giving off into the Universe is really indescribable. It's all relative and it's all sooooo beautiful.

What's the best piece of advice you've ever been given?
The Universe is always working with us, never against us. I think Willow might've said that. Best piece of advice that I can give: The future is inevitable and unpredictable, so it's 100% unfair to yourself to worry about it and try to perceive it. The truth is, nobody knows what's going to happen, so attract the energy you want, experience the things you need to, and be your own light!
