Boiler Room has long harnessed technology to broadcast expertly curated beats worldwide - whether audiences are vibing along from a grimy warehouse or over pot noodles from their desk. And now they're taking it one step further, having just announced plans to build the first virtual reality (VR) music venue in 2017.

In partnership with VR specialists Inception, Boiler Room will use this made-for-VR space to house special events that anyone can tune in to from anywhere. Except this time, you'll need a VR headset to make the most of what'll no doubt be the most immersive music experience you can get without leaving the couch.

CEO Blaise Bellville explains, "Most of Boiler Room's audience is made up of global online users who tune in to watch music events they can't attend in person. We've always been driven by using technology to showcase the music we care about in the most authentic way we can."

All the sights and sounds of the best DJ sets with less of the sweat? Get your pot noodles ready.
