casely-hayford go global on mr porter
One of London’s best independent labels is hitting the international online retailer today.
Casely-Hayford's eloquent brand of sportswear and tailoring with a strong thread of subcultural references are available to a new global audience today, as they launch a small, but perfectly curated selection of pieces with international online retailer Mr Porter.
"As an independent London brand we are extremely pleased to featured on the Mr. Porter site," the father-son duo Joe and Charlie Casely-Hayford told i-D, adding that, "This presence will give us a new opportunity to reach a global audience of discerning and stylish men".
The capsule collection features shirts, sweatshirts, a T-shirt and a coat in monochrome checks and stripes, with one red geometric print sweatshirt. "These pieces were selected because it was felt they define the Mr Porter look and the Casely-Hayford brand ethos; international, versatile, new lux and easy to wear," the designers told i-D. There's also one piece that's completely exclusive to Mr Porter: "We felt the Farrell T shirt would be a great way to convey one of our signature themes. Despite a streamlined appearance, its multiple influences will, we hope touch a wide audience," they explain.
The influence of Joe Casely Hayford's design heritage is clear to see in the collection, which is fortunate, as Charlie told us backstage at their spring/summer 16 show that, "My Dad is a man of few words and quite often in interviews he reveals something to me... about growing up in British subcultures as an outsider".
i-D asked Charlie and Joe how things are in general at their label, and they told us that, "We are really grateful to be in a very good place right now. Ever since presenting our collections on the runway, we have been overwhelmed by the positive reaction to our work. Showing on the runway has provided an opportunity to express our message of bringing together disparate elements from the street, sportswear and sartorial style."
