techno legends jeff mills and derrick may to perform with the melbourne symphony orchestra
The one-night-only event at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl in January is set to stretch the boundaries of electronic music.
Detroit-based icons Jeff Mills and Derrick May are equally renowned for being pioneers in contemporary techno and electronic music. Both were definitive figures in Detroit's techno scene in the 1980s, credited as the genre's birthplace and next January, both artists will perform individual sets with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. This isn't the first orchestral venture Mills or May have made, Mills performed with the MSO last year and both have performed with orchestras around the world. Mills has been vocal about the way "techno music has a certain unique way of expressing things that are very much consistent with classical music".
