The German sportswear giant and London's Skatewear kings renew their iconic collaboration for autumn/winter 15. See it here first.
It's been a monumental year for Palace. From opening their bricks and mortar store in London's Brewer Street in April to now, celebrating their third collaboration with adidas Originals (aka Palidas), a partnership that has brought streetwear collectors to their knees. When asked what the inspiration for the collection was this time around, Palace founder Lev Tanju comments, "whenever we work with adidas Originals we just to keep it fresh and sporty. We went a bit madder than usual this time round, but it's always about taking inspiration from what they do best and putting our own spin on it." Indeed. From the signature shell tracksuit complete with Palace logo etched on the nape of the neck to a reversible puffa jacket intertwined with the the iconic adidas 3 stripe and a windbreaker complete with a motif inspired by the elements and brought to life in psychedelic colours, the collection cements the synergy between the pairing as not one brand is overshadowed by the other. Technical innovations are a-plenty too. "the reversible puffa jacket makes cups of tea for you in the morning and will go shop for you if you want." Lev jokes. He continues, "at the Palace office in London we only just discovered zips and buttons to be honest. When someone showed us velcro the other day we thought it was a magic trick."
When asked why he continues to work with adidas Originals, he replies simply, "They give us a lot of freedom and I respect them for that. They're also all really nice, honest people - it's more of a family vibe and that's mental as it's such a big company. There's a few people that are absolute diamonds. People that work there love what they are doing and it's not brainwash-y like other people I know that work for other big companies. They kinda get a sporty big job and then they turn into a knob basically: Lose all passion, turn super corporate and start swanning about backwards because they get free trainers and a credit card. But obviously the main reason we work with adidas is the lunch canteen. It is next level good and they let us eat as much as we want all day!" Digest this!
adidas Originals x PALACE autumn/winter 15 is released October 24.
