jil sander's creative director departs the label
Rodolfo Paglialunga departs after three years at the helm.
Jil Sander autumn/winter 16
Rodolfo Paglialunga has left his role as creative director of Jil Sander, the brand confirmed yesterday. The move was widely anticipated in the fashion industry, with WWD reporting rumours of likely successors as early as January: husband and wife team Lucie and Luke Meier (Lucie formerly of Dior) are anticipated to replace Paglialunga.
The brand sits outside of the Kering-LVHM duopoly, and is instead controlled by Japanese company Onward Luxury Group SpA. In a statement on the departure, the label's chief executive officer Alessandra Bettari emphasised all was amicable, raising Paglialunga's dedication to the brand's heritage over his three years as creative director. "It was a great pleasure to collaborate with everyone in Jil Sander," the designer offered in a statement, "and to give my contribution in the brand's history and legacy." No word on where he'll head next, but we eagerly anticipate his year ahead.
