watch gorillaz’s first on-camera interview

The animated band didn’t let the lack of a physical form stop them from answering fan questions live.

Gorillaz have never let being 2D hold them back. Anything a flesh and blood band can do they can do — sometimes better. But the IRL world of physical media appearances always seemed just out of their animated grasp. That is until now, when the band joined Radio 1's MistaJam for a chat streamed live on YouTube.

2D and Murdoc Niccals sat next to each other on a couch, bickering, and took questions submitted by fans. Across the chat they discussed twerking, what they were reading, smartphones Donald Trump and Grace Jones — with Murdoc hinting he and the icon may be more than just friends.

Considering Jamie Hewlett and Damon Albarn are presently working on a TV show, it makes sense the members are taking steps to get more comfortable with face-to-face publicity. After all, world domination does tend to require the off media call. Indulge in their charms below.
