glamour takes down its universally loathed “how to make a man love you” article

“We understand that the list read like a 1950s marriage handbook—and nobody wants to go back there.”

After a storm of hilarious criticism of its un-hilarious article "13 Little Things That Can Make a Man Fall Hard for You," Glamour has removed the piece from its website. The list reads like the opposite of Kate Hudson's game plan in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, but with the stereotypes laid on thicker than Matthew McConaughey's hair gel. The writer encouraged readers to: Make their man a snack after sex - "a simple grilled cheese or milk and cookies will do" (subtext: you should really be aiming higher, like paella/steak tartare higher). Answer the door in a negligee. Let him "solve your petty work problem" (!!!!). And bring him a beer in the shower.

You might imagine that the article was written as a joke. Because as VICE pointed out, surely, "there is literally no one this basic on earth." But the tone reads deadpan. On Twitter, Rhiannon L Cosslett, a co-editor at the online feminist magazine Vagenda, wrote: "How to make a man fall in love with you, according to Glamour: Become quasi non-verbal sex robot, in negligee." And the hashtag #everydaysexism has been unleashed in a slew of similar tweets.

According to Glamour spokeswoman Kimberly Bernhardt: "The article was meant to be tongue-in-cheek, but it obviously missed the mark, and we agree." Read the original list here, and see if you agree. Either way, props to Glamour for being reactive and reconsidering what a statement on the site now refers to as its "man-pleasing tips."
