Last week Selena Gomez was crowed the queen of Instagram when a photo of her sipping from a coke bottle became the most liked snap in the apps history with 4.6 million double taps. Just incase that news got you thinking about recruiting the former Disney star to promote your emerging, grass-roots label, we have some bad news: you probably can't afford her. That is, unless you casually have half a million dollars to spare.
A study by D'Marie Analytics has recently named her the most influential celebrity on social media today. Gomez is purported to be worth $550,000 per promotion when posted across Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Also on the list of top social media influencers were Rihanna, Beyonce, Taylor Swift and Kendal and Kylie Jenner.
Whilst some insta-famous celebs are clamouring at just about any opportunity to make money through advertising, the CEO of D'Marie Group Frank Spadafora attributes Selena's success to the scarcity of paid posts across her social media platforms. You won't see any diet tea or waist trainers on these classy feeds.
"It's interesting that statistically the most influential person on social media is engaged in noticeably less campaigns than other celebrities." Spadafora remarks. "Personally, I think it's because she's being smart and she's aware that over-saturating her social feeds with sponsored content could negatively impact the relationship she has with her audience."
If you were thinking you'd like to follow in her footsteps it's worth noting that Gomez has over 180 million followers across Facebook, Instagram and Twitter — she attracts approximately 200,000 new followers each day. Well, it's always good to have a goal.
