Ryan Murphy, the man behind American Horror Story, American Crime Story and Feud, is returning to FX with yet another anthology series, titled Pose. The show, still in pilot stages, is set in mid-80s New York City, flitting between various echelons of downtown society. As Variety have it, Murphy will focus on "the emergence of the luxury Trump-era universe, the ball culture world, and downtown social and literary scene."

The first casting announcement, as reported yesterday by Variety, reveals the highest ever number of transgender series regulars in a scripted series, a historic move in Hollywood. Pose will star performer MJ Rodriguez, model-actor Indya Moore, model Dominique Jackson, musician Hailie Sahar, and activist Angelica Ross — all trans women of colour.

Murphy is co-creating Pose with American Horror Story collaborator Brad Falchuk and queer screenwriter Steven Canals — Canals is working on the script with trans activist Janet Mock and Transparent writer Our Lady J. Members of the famous House of Xtravaganza will serve as consultants on the show, keeping it true to underground ballroom culture. Trans activist Silas Howard will co-executive produce the show.

The show promises to be rich with dance routines, choreographed by Step Up's Danielle Polanco and trans ballroom dancer Leiomy Maldonado. Stay tuned.
