Do you feel like people in your city have a certain fashion aesthetic?
It's very diverse with lots of activewear.

What factors feed into how people dress here?
The internet has a huge influence, I think it's less inspired by our surroundings and more so our feeds.

What's something you're seeing everywhere around uni at the moment?
Overalls, I'd like a pair.

Describe your city's style in one sentence?
Very cold.

What factors feed into how people dress here?
Dunedin fashion is definitely inspired by our neo gothic architecture, as shown by the influential brands here such as NOM*d and company. There is rich history here of suffering artists and the youth find originality in each other with their style.

What's something you're seeing everywhere around uni at the moment?
Karen Walker jewellery and puffer jackets.

Describe your city's style in one sentence?
Desolate and Typical.

Who is your style hero?
Snoop Dogg in the Murder was the Case video.

Do you feel like people in your city have a certain fashion aesthetic?
Everybody ends up wearing heaps of monochrome colours due to the gloomy Dunedin weather. Fashion here is cold, it is worn to keep warm and tends to be a reflection of the buildings. I try not to conform to wearing dark colours and try and wear as many cute colours and clothes as I can, despite the depressing weather.

What's something you're seeing everywhere around uni at the moment?
Stripes, hoodies and puffer jackets.

What would you never wear?
I wore my first puffer jacket the other day and it was pastel purple, but I would never wear a black puffer jacket.

Who is your style hero?
The character Jade, from Bratz.

Do you feel Dunedin style is unique to the rest of the country?
We have a pretty well known fashion scene here, this brings in some cool brands such as Jack Hill and the Munay Sisters, which the locals support.

What factors feed into how people dress here?
Scarfie culture is fading but the cold culture hasn't changed.

Describe your city's style in one sentence?
Very norm-cool with pockets of niche cool.

Do you feel like people in your city have a certain fashion aesthetic?
Yes, but it's very divided. Half wear Karen Walker and striped pants and half wear black.

What factors feed into how people dress here?
Our music and fashion scene draw people together to bounce ideas and styles off one another, much more so than other cities.

What's something you're seeing everywhere around uni at the moment?
Comme Des Garcons t-shirts.

Describe your city's style in one sentence?
Very black and a little pretentious.

Do you feel like people in your city have a certain fashion aesthetic?
Yes, gloomy fashion for a gloomy place. Our staple colour is black. I feel like most other cities wear more colour.

What would you never wear?
I would never ever ever ever wear un-high waisted jean shorts that look like headbands.

Describe your city's style in one sentence?
Drapey.

Who is your style hero?
The people I see and my surroundings rather than one person.

Callum, 19, studying communication design

Do you feel like people in your city have a certain fashion aesthetic?
I think the majority is pretty similar to most places, but the gloomy side of Dunedin is definitely what stands out from the rest of the country. Rick Owens, Vetements, NOM*d and Plume seem like the buzz. Nowhere else has that kind of culture behind it within the city. It's sick.

What factors feed into how people dress here?
Weather doesn't really account for much, people still wear puffer vests on a hot day.

Describe your city's style in one sentence?
Dunedin has a mixed style influence but it keeps to its own in some ways.

Who is your style hero?
Skate culture as a whole is a pretty big hero, the dudes with Illegal Civ are sick and some things that pop up on Vfiles can be interesting.

Brittany, 18, studying fashion design

Do you feel like people in your city have a certain fashion aesthetic?
It's either your own style and very individual or casual wear. Very gothic inspired.

What's something you're seeing everywhere around uni at the moment?
Lace up modern corsets are everywhere, activewear and puffer vests.

Describe your city's style in one sentence?
Gothic as fuck.
