adele voices support for kesha in powerful brits acceptance speech
And Kesha replied with a heartfelt Instagram post.
On stage to accept her award for Best British Solo Female Artist at the Brits last night, Adele voiced support for embattled pop star, Kesha. "I'd also like to take this moment to publicly support Kesha," said Adele, after thanking her own management for accepting her as a woman. Following in the footsteps of Taylor Swift, who donated $250,000 to Kesha's cause, Demi Lovato and Miley Cyrus, for speaking up on Twitter, Lena Dunham, who launched her own attack in her newsletter, Lenny, and Lady Gaga, who posted a photo of herself and Kesha to Instagram with the caption "Free Kesha", Adele is the latest female popstar to speak out against the court's decision to deny Kesha's release from her recording contract with Sony, despite rape allegations against producer Dr. Luke. Meanwhile other female popstars who have worked with Dr. Luke such as Ciara, Kelly Clarkson, Jessie J, Katy Perry, Britney Spears and Nicki Minaj (although she unfollowed him on Twitter), have remained silent.
Breaking her silence, Kesha took to Instagram to thank everyone for their support. "I am beyond words in gratitude. thank you is not enough but it is all I have. A million times over and forever thank you. The support I have received has left my face swollen from tears. I love you all so much. <3 a statement too large for this format is coming...."
