miley cyrus went a little john waters for new mac campaign
The pop provocateur debuted a platinum blonde baby bang straight outta Crybaby for her newest Viva Glam collaboration.
Last October, Miley Cyrus released the first images from her MAC Cosmetics Viva Glam campaign, the first two products -- a hot pink lipstick and matching lipgloss -- that were released in January. Now, Cyrus has posted new campaign and product imagery to Instagram.
In the campaign, Cyrus is flirting with some John Waters vibes a la Crybaby's strong browed, red lipped, baby bang sporting bad gal Wanda Woodward. Miley first debuted her peroxide pixie cut at the 2012 VMAs, and although she often sports a rainbow of wigs on Instagram, the MAC imagery is something of a well timed #tbt to her long hair, don't care days. In addition to the campaign shot, Miley also posted an image of her collaboration's next two items -- a cherry red lipstick and lipgloss, which will be released in North America on 8 September.
Cyrus' co-sign marks the 21st year of the Viva Glam initiative, which debuted in 1994 to raise money for the Canadian cosmetics brand's AIDS Fund. Viva Glam's inaugural campaign was fronted by RuPaul (who, come to think of it, also sported platinum blonde locks) and MAC has since enlisted Lil Kim, Debbie Harry, Elton John, and Rihanna among others to help raise funds and awareness. 100% of product proceeds are donated to the charitable cause.
