It was in production before the singer's death, and got his blessing.

Instagram has just made their first foray into scripted video content through their "InstaMiniSeries." Their fourth show, which is an interpretation of David Bowie's final album, Blackstar, will debut on Thursday at 8 p.m. EST, and stars Tavi Gevinson and Patricia Clarkson. The narrative will unfold over 16 episodes.
UNBOUND: A ★ InstaMiniSeries — yes, the star icon is a stand-in for the record title — had received the rock star's blessing before he passed away on January 10. According to Instagram, Bowie welcomed the show's creators to interpret his work "with no limits or preconditions."
After this week's premiere, the series will air every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. The show approaches the work loosely and uses provocative imagery that was inspired by Bowie's last songs. The series narrative, like the rock-star's best work, is open-ended and non-linear.
Carolynn Cecilia, UNBOUND's writer and producer, says: "David Bowie was a trailblazer, not just in the world of music, but in the art of storytelling. Whether through lyrics, melodies, film, theater or mythical persona he never fails to transcend what was and set the tone — and the bar — for what can be. As story-tellers and music lovers, who better for us to be inspired by than David Bowie?"
