paul engelhardt & adam hadley darrie
We've shot Straight Ups of friends, partners, couples and duos around the country as an ode to modern connections between two people.
Where are you from?
Paul: Adelaide born and bred, I love it here.
Adam: Born in Adelaide but grew up in New Delhi, India and Virginia, USA.
What do you do?
Paul: I'm a graphic designer by trade and I own Archie & Co, a hair salon/coffee shop, with Adam.
Adam: Hairdresser at our salon/coffee shop I own with Paul.
What are you wearing from head to toe?
Paul: Hair by Archie & Co, ATG T-shirt, Rolla's jeans and customised Demonia creepers.
Adam: Vintage flannel shirt, Zanerobe shorts and vintage Redwings.
What are you listening to on repeat right now?
Paul: Shamir's 2015 album Ratchet - it's joyous and shady all at once!
Adam: Sludgefest by Chipmunks on 16 Speed.
Where would you take us during the day if we came to visit you in your city? And when night falls?
Paul: We'd go exploring through the Parklands (maybe a picnic lunch in the Himeji Garden), then dinner at Mandoo (best bibimbap in Adelaide) and beers at the Exeter on Rundle Street.
Adam: Day: The Art Gallery of SA then a walk by the Torrens River. Night, Dinner at Gondola Gondola then bands and dancing at Ancient Worlds.
If you could ask the world one question and get the answer, what would you ask?
Paul: Have we been visited by aliens? I wanna see the receipts.
Adam: Am I doing life right?
What's the best thing about being young in 2016?
Paul: Young people lead the way in social change and that's empowering. Today's youth lead the way by example - a strong social conscience is something to be proud of and encouraged.
Adam: I think people are allowed to be who they are or want to be more than ever with lots of amazing progressions like the trans movement.
