Today Princess Nokia announced a deal with Rough Trade Records and shared the brand-new track G.O.A.T. — we can hardly decide what's better news! G.O.A.T is a big, badass tune, and the deal suggests there's more Princess Nokia music on the way.

The rapper has long been wary of signing to a major label: in a 2016 interview with Snobette she admitted, "I've turned down maybe five record deals. They were never sufficient for me." She continued, "I'm not a woman looking to be taken advantage of. If you sign your clause over, that's paperwork where you're expected to make an album and you're expected to make it sell."

This deal, one can only assume, is very much on her terms — and we couldn't think of a better fit. Rough Trade Records made its name in 80s London pressing classics like Meat is Murder, and remains independent to this day. Co-runner Jeannette Lee was instrumental in the earliest days of punk, often manning the desk at Vivienne Westwood's SEX boutique. Destiny's new label mates include ANOHNI, Dean Blunt and i-D favourites Goat Girl. We can't wait to see where this partnership goes.
