Three short films created by Intel in collaboration with i-D follow Swedish-Japanese stylist Erika Kurihara as she travels from London to LA to shoot a portraits story - which is also live on the site today!... In episode 3 Erika and Ami are shooting our favourite LA cool kids in locations ranging from dream houses in the Hollywood Hills to the California desert; and Erika speaks about the special relationship between a stylist and a photographer. Erika Kurihara is the smart, sexy and superbly dressed former Fashion Editor of i-D. The Stockholm native shows us round her new hometown of London before jetting off to Los Angeles to show us exactly what it means to be a stylist; the art of dressing, the people you choose to cast and how style can not only take you to the City of Dreams but “can transport you to another place, where you put on a garment and it makes you feel different.” A total tomboy at school, Erika became interested in styling after spending time in Japan: “I remember seeing the work of Rei Kawakubo for Comme des Garçons and really saw her as an artist.” Having styled everyone from Abbey Lee to Lily McMenamy, and having worked with cutting-edge technologies throughout her career, you’ll be hard-pressed to find her without a tablet in her hand: “I definitely need technology and the internet in a way I probably couldn’t have imagined 10 years ago.” Follow Erika on a journey in style, across the world...
