Newcastle born, Bristol bred, and matured somewhere in between living in a caravan in Devon and raving to acid house in Ibiza, Lulu Kennedy is now heralded as Fashion’s Fairy Godmother. After working at a couple of contemporary art galleries in the 90s, the owners of the Old Truman Brewery sought her help in renting out space to the hottest young designers in town. Realising the sheer talent of designers out there that needed nurturing, Lulu founded Fashion East in 2000, with the Old Truman Brewery, a non-profit initiative dedicated to funding young designers and showcasing their collections at London Fashion Week, and the sales show rooms in Paris. Five years later, Lulu founded MAN, Fashion East’s menswear equivalent, which has been responsible for launching the careers of designers Christopher Shannon, Kim Jones and J.W Anderson. Lulu lives in Bethnal Green, loves shepherd’s pie, and has a crush on Jimi Hendrix.
