Studying dance as a teenager in New Brunswick, New Jersey, Jamie Bochert grew up wanting to be a ballerina. However, after moving to L.A. to become a waitress, she was scouted and flown out to New York to become a model. Her career blew up big in the early noughties, after she walked in the Ann Demeulemeester show in Paris and appeared on the cover of i-D’s The Graduate Issue in September 2002. Considered to be Marc Jacobs’s muse, she then took a five-year break to focus on her music as alter ego Frances Wolf. Jamie came back to the modelling world in 2008 after she taught herself to play the piano and guitar and played on stage with Patti Smith, alongside husband Michael Pitt’s band Pagoda.
