Ever since his CSM graduate collection – a body-con lace and chain extravaganza – Scotsman Christopher Kane has been one to watch. And we’re not the only ones who thought so; he was promptly awarded the Harrods Design Award, and caught the beady eye of Donatella Versace (she loved him so much that in 2009, she put him in charge of Versus, her beloved diffusion line). After launching his eponymous label in 2006, the Scotsman and his sister Tammy (collaborator and business partner) have been taking the fashion world by storm. And then there’s his capsule collections for Topshop, his limited-edition line for Swarvoski, and his 2011 London cab takeover, where he covered a fleet of taxis in his signature galactic print. In 2012, he parted ways with Versus, in order to concentrate on his own label, part of which he has just sold to Kering. In June this year, the company announced they were looking for the first Christopher Kane flagship store.
