Half Italian, half Japanese and entirely avant-garde, Nicola Formichetti is a stylist, editor, art director, and trained classical pianist. Initially studying music and architecture, Nicola moved to London at the age of 19. Since then, he’s worked at magazines Vogue Hommes Japan and Dazed & Confused, brands MUGLER, Uniqlo, and currently heads up DIESEL as its artistic director. On top of collaborations with Prada, MAC, and Stussy, he also runs hip boutique Nicopanda with his brother, Andrea. And then there’s his work at the Haus of Gaga, where he’s been styling his BFF Lady Gaga for the last four years. For The Exhibitionist Issue, Spring 2011, Nicola had Gaga - prosthetic cheekbone clad and with dark sullen eyes – on the cover modeling the latest collection of MUGLER menswear. Just like he says on Twitter, he’s still the baddest panda in town.
