Liverpool born and raised, Christopher Shannon moved to London after securing the first scholarship to the Central St Martins MA Menswear course in over a decade. After catching the collective eye of the MAN panel with his graduate collection which featured collaborative pieces with sponsors including Eastpak, Levi’s and Calvin Klein,Christopher has shone under the spotlights of London Fashion Week and London Collections: Men. He has helped pushed London menswear forward by turning early promise into a diverse label that enjoys both critical and commercial success. Showing for three seasons with MAN, the design talent moved on to the prestigious NEWGEN scheme for autumn/winter 10 and has since honed his signature fusion of performance fabrics, clean silhouettes and unexpected drama. His experimental sportswear has dazzled editors and buyers alike, not least his spring/summer 14 collection that spread smiles with its rainbow of florals and glitter. If he wasn’t a designer he thinks he’d either be a park manager or music video maker, he’s taken up boxing as a hobby and his secret obsession is The Hotel Inspector.
Career highlight… I work fast and constantly so I’m pleased when anything goes ok. I loved Leslie Winer working on my autumn/winter 13 show music, I’ve started doing a few bits with Neneh Cherry and Judy Blame, they are both childhood heroes of mine so that’s really exciting and fulfilling
