There’s no denying that since that interiors collection of spring/summer 11, Mary Katrantzou’s graphic, hyper-real prints have been impossible to ignore. Originally studying for a BA in architecture, Mary’s transfer into fashion saw her complete both an undergraduate degree and an MA at Central Saint Martins, where her graduate collection filled with trompe l’oeil dresses saw her nominated for the Harrods and the L’Oreal Professional award. Since then, the princess of print has received NEWGEN sponsorship for six seasons running, and has collaborated with Topshop on three collections. Not only that, but in 2011 she received the British Fashion Award for Emerging Talent - Womenswear, only to be nominated a year later for Designer of the Year, her personal highlight to date. Having enraptured the fashion world with her distinctive, bold vision, it’s clearly true what they say; there really is something about Mary.
