Working as Chanel’s global creative director for the past five years, visionary cosmetic artist Peter Philips adores beautiful women. Originally obtaining a degree in graphic design from Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts, the Belgium born innovator discovered his passion for makeup aged 27. Becoming inspired by the world of make-up artistry, whilst working backstage as a dresser during Paris Fashion Week, Peter promptly decided to focus on make-up rather than fashion after graduating from the Académie des Beaux-Arts, in 1993. Going on to experiment with makeup as an art form, today he works closely with friends and fashion forces Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons. Famous for his daring use of temporary tattoos on the runway and inventive face illustrations, Peter remains forever inspired by iconic actresses of the black and white era; Rita Hayworth, Audrey Hepburn, Ava Gardner, and Sophia Loren are his go-to mood-board muses. Considered a genius by the fashion industry Peter Philips is a male makeup artist who understands what makes a woman beautiful.
