American Vogue's creative director Grace Coddington is as big a celebrity as the models she dresses. A former model and the surprise star of The September Issue, the Welsh redhead modelled for Vidal Sassoon and worked at British Vogue for nearly two decades, before heading off to New York to realise her inimitable romantic style. Her work has become so renowned that she even got a shout out as the "fash ed. supreme" from Patsy Stone in Ab Fab. Since her rapid rise from being behind the scenes to becoming a household name, Grace has released a memoir, detailing everything from her first ever modelling job (shot by Norman Parkinson) to her true love: cats. Recently, Grace starred on the cover of one of i-D’s most popular issues, The Wise Up Issue (Winter 2012); shot by her good friend Arthur Elgort, her fiery red hair contrasting with a bold blue Céline coat made for a truly iconic image.
