Belgian photographer Willy Vanderperre studied fashion design at the Royal Academy of Fine Art in Antwerp for two years before transferring to the photography department. Willys first show at Modo Bruxelea was curated by collaborators Peter de Potter and Olivier Rizzo, whom he still works with regularly. In February 2001, Willy and Olivier collaborated on their first international magazine cover for i-D, a shot of models Chloë and Robbie for The Inspiration Issue. We believed in the models, said Willy, the shoot was completely right for the time. As well as contributions to i-D, Vanderperre has also worked with Arena Homme Plus, AnOther, Vogue, V and Fantastic Man, to name a few. He photographed Rihanna for The Lovers of Life Issue in Spring 2010, and in the same issue took a self-portrait with Olivier, which opened the magazine. Willy also photographed Miranda Kerr for the cover of The Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes Issue in Summer 2010, Natasha Poly for the cover of The Pick Me Up Issue, August 2011 and Benjamin Eidem for The Winter Warm Up Issue, Winter 2011. For Summer 2012, working once again with Olivier, Willy photographed Raf Simons in a moment when the whole world is watching him as he takes the helm at Dior.
