Moncler got big by making ski jackets, but they got really big by making them fashionable. Founded in 1952 by René Ramillon as a mountaineering outfitters, their puffy quilted jackets are now available in every colour under the sun (Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon have matching red ones) and can come with fluffy hoods and shiny fabrics, should you so please. Pharrell Williams teamed up with creative director Remo Ruffini in 2010, creating camo body warmers out of the performer’s eco friendly Bionic Yarn and now there’s a Moncler Lunettes featuring Pharrell’s eyewear range happening, too. The best thing about Moncler, though? Their sense of humour. There’s only so many ways you can sell a ski jacket so they got a team of golden retrievers in mini Moncler jackets to do it for them – and it worked. The shows are pretty epic, too.
