In the spring of ‘67, and with a $10,000 loan from his childhood friend, boy from the Bronx Calvin Klein established his eponymous label: Calvin Klein Ltd. During the 80s Calvin launched lines of branded jeans and underwear that came to life through advertising campaigns that starred Brooke Shields, Kate Moss and Mark Wahlberg and brought controversy, huge sales and led to people all over the world becoming ‘Calvinised’. Calvin Klein made understated, all-American glamour its own while building a vast billion dollar enterprise that included everything from perfume to pillows. Calvin left his own label in 2003 and brought in Brazilian Francisco Costa as creative director of womenswear collections and Italian Italo Zucchelli of menswear. Today, the brand offers an array of different lines and products, from Calvin Klein Jeans to Calvin Klein Sport, all of which bare the clean aesthetic that made Calvin Klein the coolest brand to have on the band of your boxers.
