Ex-architecture student and in-line skating pro, Italo Zucchelli is best known for his dedicated genius over the last ten years as Calvin Klein Collection Creative Director, Menswear. Born in 1965, Italo grew up near the Italian coastal town of La Spezia. He recalls that his first glimpse into the world of Calvin Klein was in 1982, with a men’s underwear advertisement that starred Olympic pole-vault athlete Tom Hintnaus. Working for two years as menswear designer at Jil Sander, and prior to that as designer at Romeo Gigli, Italo officially became Menswear Creative Director in Spring 2004 after collaborating day-to-day with Calvin Klein on the design of four men’s collections and two women’s collections. Italo’s designs encapsulate the spirit of Calvin Klein’s sexy, American philosophy, an aesthetic inspired by the human form and the idea of designing clothes that relate directly to the body in a sophisticated and effortless way.
