Since his debut on the New York fashion scene in 2006, Alexander Wang has cemented his reputation as the go-to brand for cool, stylish clothes for cool, stylish girls. Born and raised in San Francisco to a Chinese-American family, Wang moved to New York at the age of 18 to study fashion at Parsons School of Design. During this time, he interned at Marc Jacobs, Teen Vogue, US Vogue and Derek Lam before deciding to drop out of university and launch his own name label in 2006. Believing a T-shirt and jeans can be just as sexy as an evening gown, Wang has cultivated a design signature of slouchy tees, layered dresses and downtown New York style. His simple yet chic clothes are the garments of choice for off-duty supermodels, many of whom he counts amongst his closet friends. In 2012, Wang was named Creative Director of legendary fashion house Balenciaga, and now splits his time between his own name label in New York and Paris. At Alexander Wang, he continues to inject the fashion scene with much needed fun, working with rude-girl comedian Bon Qui Qui on his collection videos, throwing the best parties at fashion week and dressing his too-cute niece Aila in his seasonal threads.
