patti's kids: why seven young people love detroit

Patti Smith was onto something when she suggested that young creative people move to Detroit. The city is a low-rent, high energy enclave buzzing with hopefulness in the wake of its bankruptcy. With the recent opening of Bruce Weber’s exhibition at the Detroit Institute of the Arts, the patronage of Made-in-America watch and bike brand Shinola, and community gardens and art spaces popping up every day, this former metropolis is once again on the rise. i-D hit the streets of the Motor City to talk to its young people about what’s making it so right, right now.
