Jimmy, Jimmy, oh, Jimmy, Jimmy! That’s a late-mid 80s Madonna reference in case anyone was wondering and who better to welcome shoe queen Sandra Choi to the London menswear schedule than the Queen of Pop herself? They don’t do things by halves over at Choo HQ, and for the house’s debut runway show Choi had taken out no less than the circle room at Victoria’s County Hall and elevated a circular runway to eye level, putting the spotlight on the real stars of the show. Inspired by the photography of John Deakin, Choi presented London-centric collection that seemed to embrace the label’s relatively young legacy while merging it with the experimental nature trademarked by a London show. It’s not that the swish elegance that normally characterises Jimmy Choo wasn’t there, but it was infused with a certain toughness that made for some pretty covetable pieces. Take for instance the white-soled, sand coloured hiking boot, the heavy-duty (in a Choo way) combat boot, or the all-over gilded trainers, which were nothing less than swaggy. Here, our Top 5 Jimmy Choos for spring/summer 15 as captured in motion.
