Missoni's gone on a gap year in North Africa, and it's enough to give any boyish surfer soul lifestyle envy.
The long-locked boys of Milan got their turn on Sunday afternoon as Angela Missoni continued her knitted portrayal of surfers around the world. This season they hit the coasts of North Africa where various gap-year worthy tribal patterns had found their way into the largely stripy and zigzaggy wardrobe of Missoni’s beach boy. When he wasn’t running around bare-chested in an open soft waistcoat, the free-spirited young man was busy reacquainting himself with Missoni’s former trademark towelling effect, which re-appeared in this collection in the shape of knits and in a jacquard used in two new editions of Missoni’s collaboration with Converse: a re-edition of the Chuck Taylor and All-Star slip-on. The new footwear seemed only appropriate for the man Angela Missoni has been shaping in recent seasons, who in all likeliness doesn’t come by the dozen in real life but gives any adventurous, boyish soul complete lifestyle and look envy, especially in the surroundings of one of Milan’s sweltering show venues. Hot.
