With the fashion week marathon well and truly behind us, it's easy to see who this seasons ones to watch are. They're the ones who you saw in every city, they stalked the catwalks of every show and rushed off, arm in arm with their fellow leggy mates straight into hair and make-up for the next fashion extravaganza. Those 'ones' included Binx, Hollie-May Saker, Natalie Westling, Sasha Luss and Malaika Firth. From New York to Paris, Little Miss Malaika, the 5 foot 9 inch tall Kenyan model, stole the show everywhere she walked. Destined for greatness, her very first photoshoot was a Burberry lookbook and she was the first black model to book a Prada campaign since Naomi Campbell in 1994. Born in Kenya, living in London and raised a Christian, it's clear that no matter how many shows or campaigns she books or how many people tell her how pretty she is (and she is soooo pretty), she's the most humble girl, let alone model we've ever met! All eyes on Malaika.

How were you discovered?
I wasn't discovered as such, my mum called Premier Models after seeing The Model Agency on Channel 4 and Carole White, Premier’s founder signed me up straight away!

How long have you been modeling?
Around 2 years.

What are you up to today?
I just walked for Tommy Hilfiger which was amazing! I loved what I wore…..I loved all of the colors and patterns of the collection.

Tell us about the day of the shoot for i-D with Julia Sarr-Jamois and Sean Thomas
It was a great and pretty chilled day.

How important is fashion to you?
Quite important, I like to look good everywhere I go even if I’m going to pick up my little brother from school.

What do you do for fun when you’re not modeling?
I like to hang out at home with the family, go out shopping, sketch, laze in bed and eat!

What’s your career highlight to date?
Shooting the Prada campaigns.

Would you ever strip off for a shoot?
Hmmm that depends… not completely naked... just up to a bikini... :)

Who are your best model friends and what are they like?
I don't have a best model friend yet but I speak to most of the beautiful girls like Sasha, Ola, Anna, Ashleigh, Cindy etc. they're all great people.

Would you rather a big night out or quiet night in?
Definitely a quiet night in with someone I love but don't get me wrong I love night outs ;)

What place in the world is the most special to you and why?
Kenya because it’s great! There are so many things I can do, like help my grandma with her restaurant, visit all my family. Whenever I go to Kenya I never forget to buy clothes and toys because near where my family lives there is a tribe called ‘The Giriamas’, they live in tiny huts (about 5 to 7 live in one) so it’s great to go and share the clothes and sweets with the children.

We interviewed you two years ago and you said the five places you’d like to visit were New York, Paris, Mahé Island – Victoria, Atlantis Hotel – Dubai and Jerusalem, how many of those places have you been to now?
I’ve visited 3 of the 5 so far, Paris, London and Dubai.

What’s it like when you go back to Kenya now you’re a supermodel?
Well I don't feel like a supermodel… I feel pretty normal and I just enjoy myself when I'm down there! My family and I have such a laugh.

Are you in love?
Hehe… no not just yet… ask me that in a couple of years time :)

Who and where would your dream date be?
My dream date would be with a confident, sophisticated, loving, caring and  guy... Maybe somewhere in the Seychelles near the beach ahhhh...

What was the last movie that made you cry?
For Coloured Girls, a wonderful movie about a group of beautiful young black girls dealing with different issues in life.

Is acting still something you want to pursue?
DEFINITELY! So far I haven't had time to go to acting classes much because of my schedule... but it's still definitely in my mind.

If you could have played a role in any film, who would you have chosen?
Paula Patton who was in Baggage Claim, I just loved the quirkiness she brought to her character... plus she is so beautiful.

What would you request a DJ to put on in a club?
Maybe some Afro-beats.

What are you most insecure about?
Nothing.

When do you feel most sexy?
When I'm in bed wearing Victoria’s Secret lingerie.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
God willing still in the modeling industry and hopefully acting on the big screens! :)
