There’s also a breadth of interesting first time filmmakers in the mix too. We like the look of the short film Here, which has a God’s Own Country kind of vibe about it.     The Kelela live album is a stripped-back trip. In the Blue Light – a sort of re-formed version of her two-night residency at New York jazz bar The Blue Note last May – sees the multidisciplinary artist performing tracks from her back catalogue in acoustic form. Starring Benicio del Toro, Tom Hanks, Riz Ahmed and Scarlett Johansson, it’s called The Phoenician Scheme, and has a seriously oblique plot line: “The story of a family and a family business”. The film is due for release on 30 May, which suggests we may get a sneak peak of the film at Cannes Film Festival earlier that month.

The Moment, directed by Aidan Zamiri, has just unveiled a casting call for three parts: a “believably cool and fashionable” creative director called Celeste (aged 32-38); an “out of his depth” music manager called Tim (aged 35-40) and a “strikingly beautiful” natural healer called Maria (aged 45-65). The film is set to start shooting in March in the UK. Jennifer Venditti, who cast Euphoria, is the film’s casting director. More info here.

Organised by Give A F*ck LA, the concert will be held at the Hollywood Palladium on 5 February, and will be paired with an auction – all to support organisations like Altadena Girls, Pasadena Humane and Friends In Deed.
