You know, Alexey Devayin aka Pixelord makes just the kind of futurist cybernet sound we like to have in our ears. Electronic, atmospheric and with one hand seemingly always on a Gameboy, he's part of KOKO's upcoming The Playground presents night on 8 October, featuring a whole host of Acid House legends such as Phuture, DJ Pierre, Rob Acid, U-Zig, Cheepaz Acid Crew and a full band show from 808 State. He has a new LP - Human.exe - coming out via Hyperboloid Records tomorrow (23 September) and to celebrate has made us this very good mix. "I wanted to show some of the most uncommon and diverse tracks from my LP, as well as some of my current favourites from the underground electronic music world," he told us of said very good mix. "Lots of multi genre things from future bass to IDM and acid. The mix is about getting warm in the upcoming winter mood." Warm your 8-bit cockles below.
What was the first album you ever bought?
Maybe it was an early Prodigy album on a tape.
What's your favourite day of the week and why?
Sunday, because the city is at its most calm and quiet and sometimes I have some soft nostalgia moments; chilling at home, remembering those sundays from childhood when you are trying to get the most out of it before the school week starts.
What's the most hedonistic party you've ever been to?
That was one of the Sonar festivals, when you're listening to your favourite music and lying on the grass and you don't have to play a set. Of course, I would love to play at Sonar but the hedonistic part is not about making music or playing it live. Touring is stress and hard work.
What do you know now that you wish you had known when you were 16?
Nothing. I like my 16 as it was. Less information is good. I wish I knew less random things right now.
What would your dream rider consist of?
I don't know actually. The most fun about playing somewhere isn't a rider, it's the crowd, the experience, the new people you meet, the new places you visit, those things you will remember forever.
What movie do you think Pixelord would best soundtrack?
Blade Runner or Ninja Turtles.
Your house is on fire. After loved ones, what do you save?
Computers, hard discs with my music and works. Some of my vinyls.
If you could wake up tomorrow having gained a new ability, what would it be?
If you could ask anyone a question, who would you ask, and what?
I would ask my father any question, just to hear what his voice sounds like.
What is your greatest ambition?
I want to not worry about money, and to create whatever I want, to share with millions of people.
